About Circus Chimera
Circus Chimera is a unique, theatrical-style circus that celebrates the Circus Arts while retaining the traditions of the traveling tent. The intimate one ring setting under our 60 foot high Big Top provides children and families up-close and personal exposure to the stunning human endurance and ingenuity that define the genre.
For its eighth season, Circus Chimera proudly presents Alice In Wonderland, a magical reinterpretation of the beloved classic for ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages. Think you know the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat? Think again! Circus Chimera's international cast are masters of showmanship, spectacle and illusion, recreating familiar characters in bold new acts that defy the laws of gravity, dazzling and delighting every member of your family. Russian circus superstar Ekaterina Bazarova — a world-class contortionist and former Olympic gymnast— plays Alice, the heroine who shrinks and grows before your eyes. Peruvian Fridman Torales plays The Mad Hatter, bringing new meaning to the word "unbalanced" as he performs the world's most daring version of the classic Rolla Bolla. From Kenya in their first American appearance come The Black Angels as the Red Queen's Deck of Cards. And that's just the beginning!
Circuses occupy a special niche in the human heart. A performance genre as old as bull dancers in ancient Crete, it's created afresh each time a child laughs at a clown or marvels in open-mouthed enchantment at the effortless grace with which a trapeze artist flies through the air. A live circus is one of the most personal and compelling experiences available in a world where entertainment franchises threaten to turn our imaginations into strip malls.
Circus Chimera's shows are always sponsored by a service group local to the community in which we are playing. These service groups can receive up to fifty percent of our ticket sales. The relationship between local sponsors and our performance venue creates a one-of-a-kind family entertainment, financially beneficial to both the circus and the communities where we pitch our tent.
The synergy between a circus and its sponsors is a unique take on community activism, one that your audience may not know exists and would enjoy learning about. To arrange interviews with out sponsors or performers, or a backstage visit to our circus, please contact Patrizia DiLucchio, Circus Chimera Publicity Coordinator at (831) 915-7467 or publicity@circuschimera.com. And we hope to see you ringside at the show!
